For the record...

Watson plans another marathon gig

Mark Watson is planning to beat his record for the longest continuous stand-up show.

At last year’s Edinburgh  Fringe, the comic and novelist staged a mammoth 24-hour show, culminating in an emotional finale when he proposed to his girlfriend.

Now he’s planning  to beat that with a show that lasts 2,005 minutes to mark the year 2005 – working out at an incredibly  demanding 33hours, 25 minutes.

All he needs now is a venue willing to accommodate the show, titled 2005 Years In 2005 Minutes: Mark Watson Explains The World Since Christ.

He said: “I'm probably looking for  a venue that has a room which isn't in regular use throughout the Fringe,  and one which is fairly relaxed about letting us run the show.”

Watson, who was this week shortlisted for a Chortle award for innovation  for his 2004 stunt, also plans to take a proper hour-long show to the festival, too.
