A new sitcom? Never

Seinfeld rules out TV return

Jerry Seinfeld has said he will never make another sitcom.

The multimillionaire comic says he could never repeat the success of Seinfeld, so it would be futile to try.

"When you have an experience like that, it's like Joe DiMaggio starting another streak," he said on sports radio station WFAN, adopting a suitable baseball analogy. "I don't think so."

But his comments contradict those he made earlier in the week, when he inadvertently hinted at some sort of return to TV after six years of mainly live work.

"I'm talking with NBC... oh, I can't talk about that yet," he blurted out.

On the sports show, Jerry added that after eight years of Seinfeld, the genre holds no surprises for him, so he won't even watch sitcoms.

"I know the medium too well - I know the moves too well," he said. "I like watching stand-up comics."

The comic this week launched a big-budget Internet advert for American Express, co-starring with Superman. Click here to watch it.
