Chris named America's funniest man

Chris Rock has been named the funniest man in America.

The 38-year-old stand-up topped the chart, compiled by Entertainment Weekly magazine, thanks to his current tour.

The magazine said: "Watching Rock in 2004 - 21 years into his comedy career - is like watching a great prize-fighter in peak condition."

His Black Ambition tour will soon be recorded as a TV special, following 1996's Bring The Pain and 1999's Bigger And Blacker.

Comedy Central's Jon Stewart was second on the Entertainment Weekly list, followed by Will Ferrell.

Larry David, Dave Chappelle, Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Murray, Jim Carrey and Jack Black also made the top ten.
