DVD breaks sales records

The Office has become the fastest selling BBC DVD, shifting more than 80,000 copies in a week.

The first series has already overtaken the sales of such classics as Only Fools And Horses and Fawlty Towers.

The corporation is now pressing additional copies to cope with Christmas demand.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "Comedy fans love all the trivia, behind the scenes details and out-takes of programmes like The Office."

The two-disc set includes a documentary made by Ricky Gervais and co-creator Stephen Merchant, with out-takes from the series and background information.
