Radio 4 shows Jack's houseboat life

Jack Russell's life on a riverboat is to be the subject of a Radio 4 documentary.

The stand-up lives on a Dutch barge at Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, and at the time the show was recorded his dog, Sadie, produced nine puppies, so he was sharing his 60 ft space with ten dogs, a cat and his sister.

In the programme, Jack says he lived a nomadic life as a child, bought up in different Army bases, and how this led to living on a houseboat, somewhere he can call home but uproot at any time.

This interview is intercut with extracts from Russell's stand-up routine.

The programme was made as part of the BBC's Sense Of Place project to improve its local profile, and was originally broadcast on Southern Counties Radio.

It will get a fresh airing at 11.30pm on Monday on Radio 4, or can be heard online here.
