Comics vie for Liverpool award

Brendan O'Caroll, Silky and Keith Carter have been nominated for a comedy award.

The trio are up for the comedy accolade in the Liverpool Echo arts and entertainment awards.

Newspaper readers will decide who picks up the stand-up trophy for performances in the city over the year.

Dubliner O'Carroll fwas nominated for his pre-Christmas one-man show at the Royal Court, How's Your Snowballs?

Keith Carter's performs as Nige, is a workshy Scally character, while Silky (pictured) has been nominated for his appearances at the Rawhide Comedy Club.

The awards will be announced at the city's Empire theatre on September 15, with guests including be Ricky Tomlinson and Claire Sweeney.
