Carrott to get the Blues?

Football club takeover rumours

Jasper Carrott has been linked to a possible takeover of Birmingham City football club.

Porn baron David Sullivan has put his 78 per cent stake in the club up for sale.

And Carrott, a life-long Blues fan, is reportedly interested in taking a share as part of a consortium with rock star Jeff Lynne and ex-England footballer Trevor Francis.

The comic has made a small fortune from his share in TV production company Celador, makers of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

However, he has previously denied reports of a takeover bid, and has not commented since Sullivan's annoucement.

And in an online poll on icBirmingham.co.uk, fewer than five per cent of fans said they wanted to see Carrott control the club.
