Evicted club rehoused

New venue for ousted EDT

A comedy club made homeless when pub bosses pulled the plug on its venue has found a new home.

Upstairs at the EDT was forced out of south London's East Dulwich Tavern after 12 years last month, when the bar's owners decided to covert the theatre space into a restaurant.

But now organisers have landed a new venue, just five minutes' walk from the old place.

East Dulwich Comedy will reopen at the Magdala Tavern in Lordship Lane on October 20, with a line-up headed by Boothby Graffoe.

Promoter Emma Emslie said: "The reaction to the news of the new venue has been fantastic from regular audience members and performers.

"With great talents lined up to appear, the long-held reputation for quality comedy at the EDT will be carried on to the EDC - East Dulwich Comedy."

The club is also launching a comedy variety night on Fridays from November, to showcase the increasing number of character acts coming onto the circuit.
