Josh Jones pilots fast food TV show

...but BBC passes on a series

Comic Josh Jones has fronted a new BBC pilot seeking ‘the best takeaway in town’.

But it appears the show has not been picked up for a series.

In the trial episode of Fast Food Face Off, the comic was joined by Northern Irish stars Kristian Nairn, who played Hodor in Game of Thrones and Gemma Bradley, who in 2019 became the first black presenter on BBC Radio Ulster.

The BBC says: 'Josh Jones loves to eat  amazing food but, because of his busy work and travel schedule as a stand-up comedian, he usually ends up living off takeaways. But that doesn’t mean his tastebuds have to be disappointed, he likes his fast food to be fancy.

‘To help him find the best fast food when he’s on the road, Josh enlists the help of two local celebrities who think their favourite takeaway is unbeatable, and pits them against each other in a Fast Food Face Off.’

In the pilot, which will be released on BBC Three on July 12,  Jones samples his celebrity guests’ favourite dishes, before making a bulk order from both takeaways, then sampling the chefs’ choices.

The pilot was commissioned by the BBC in Northern Ireland at the same time as Stitch, Please!, a fashion competition show fronted by drag queen Blu Hydrangea, with the aim of picking one of them to be made into a series.

The Corporation last week announced that Stitch, Please! would be going forward, with four episodes commissioned.
