The son of actress Hilary and agent Michael, Jack Whitehall was a child actor in various television dramas before beginning his comedy career while studying at the University of Manchester, first performing stand-up at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2009. He gained early television exposure as a panellist on shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats and A League of Their Own.

His breakthrough came with the Channel 4 sitcom Fresh Meat (2011-2016), where he played JP. He subsequently starred in and co-wrote Bad Education (2012-2014), a BBC Three comedy set in a fictional school, which was followed by a film adaptation in 2015. Whitehall has hosted several television programmes, including Backchat (2013-2015) alongside his father, and A League of Their Own from 2020. Together at last, Jack Whitehall and Kim Kardashian

Stand-up is cast in reality star's new comedy

Jack Whitehall is to star alongside Kim Kardashian in a new film directed by Eva Longoria.

The cast of The Fifth Wheel also includes Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser, fellow comedian Fortune Feimster and former Saturday Night Live star – and  presenter of The Great American Baking Show – Casey Wilson.

Details of the characters are being kept under wraps, according to Hollywood industry website Deadline, which first reported the news of Whitehall’s involvement.

But the plot involves a group of best friends from high school attempting to reconnect during a weekend jaunt to Las Vegas – until it is interrupted by a ‘hot outsider’, played by Kardashian.

It is the latest stage in the Whitehall’s fast-growing US career. He  can currently be seen starring in Amazon Prime thriller Malice and recently  wrapped on the horror film Legacy with  Anjelica Huston, as well as the indie rom-com Whodunnit.

He will next be seen starring opposite Keke Palmer in the Peacock series The ‘Burbs, based on the 1989 Tom Hanks black comedy.

Written by former SNLer Paula Pell and her wife, the comedian Janine Brito, The Fifth Wheel also stars Scott MacArthur from The Righteous Gemstones  and Brenda Song from the Netflix basketball  sitcom Running Point.

Though best known for her role on  Desperate Housewives, Eva Longoria has directed a number of TV episodes, making her feature debut with 2023’s  autobiographical comedy-drama Flamin' Hot about the man who claimed to have  invented Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
