Alex Horne's new Channel 4 task show
Families to be set challenges
Taskmaster creator Alex Horne could be setting families a series of challenges in a new Channel 4 series currently under development.
It’s not clear if the programme will be a direct spinoff from the Taskmaster franchise, but does require some of the same skills of its contestants.
However they will filmed taking part at home rather than in a studio or other setting such as the Taskmaster house.
Programme-makers Avalon – who are also behind Taskmaster – have put out a casting call for those hoping to take part.
It explains: ‘The show will feature households around the UK who must pull together as a team at home in order to tackle a host of fun, creative and head-scratching tasks as set by Alex Horne of Taskmaster fame.
‘The random tasks are designed to require a combination of creativity, lateral thinking, speed, some general knowledge and, of course, teamwork.
‘The ultimate aim and requirement is to stay in the game and keep playing, in the hope of beating the other households and getting the chance to win a cash prize.’
Filming is due to take place in October, with the invitation open to members of extended families as long as they live under the same roof – or even ‘close-knit housemates or flatmates who are not related but know each other really well’.
Channel 4 chiefs recently confirmed that Taskmaster would stay on their station until at least 2029.
A Junior Taskmaster spin-off featuring 25 children aged 9 to 11 with Rose Matafeo as the Taskmaster and Mike Wozniak as her assistant ran in 2024, although no announcement has been made about its future. There is also an education scheme that uses ideas from the show to develop teamwork, problem-solving and creativity in schools.
The casting call for Horne’s new project went out on castitreach.com and was first spotted by TVZone.
