Trailer for The Incomer

Quirky new Domhnall Gleeson comedy

Here’s a trailer for The Incomer, an upcoming comedy starring Domhnall Gleeson as Daniel, a civil servant sent to a remote Scottish island to persuade its only two inhabitants to leave.

Siblings Isla (Gayle Rankin) and Sandy (Grant O'Rourke) have lived alone for 30 years since their parents disappeared, surviving by hunting seabirds, speaking to mythical creatures, and defending their home from dreaded ‘incomers’.

Isla is also haunted by visions of a Finman (John Hannah), a mythical creature who tries to lure her into the sea.

The film – which won an ‘innovator’ award at this year’s Sundance festival – also stars Michelle Gomez as Daniel’s intimidating boss Roz.

It attracted a slew of good reviews at Sundance, drawing comparisons with The Ballad of Wallis Island, The Wicker Man and The Banshees of Inisherin, while writer and director Louis Paxton has described the film as ‘heartfelt, odd and absurdly funny’.

The Incomer hits cinemas on September 4.
