Esther Smith and Rafe Spall return

Apple TV has unveiled the trailer for the fifth season of its comedy Trying, starring Esther Smith and Rafe Spall. 

In the eight new episodes, their characters Nikki and Jason deal with the consequences of their children’s biological mother Kat (Charlotte Riley) turning up at their doorstep, bringing a ‘whirlwind of chaos’ into their settled family life.

The ensemble cast also includes Darren Boyd, Siân Brooke,  Celia Imrie, Phil Davis,  Gbemisola Ikumelo, Colin Morgan, Scarlett Rayner and Cooper Turner.

Produced by BBC Studios, the comedy will make its return to Apple TV  on July 8 followed by one episode weekly through to Wednesday, August 26.
