Nikki Glaser's Golden Globes monologue
Including jokes about Leonardo DiCaprio, Wicked: For Good and Timothée Chalamet
Here’s the monologue. Nikki Glaser delivered at the Golden Globes last night.
It was the second year the comedian has hosted the awards, after becoming the first woman to front the glitzy night solo last year.
She started by welcoming the A-listers – ‘by which I mean people who are on a list that has been heavily redacted’ – and adding that the Golden Globe for best editing should go to the Justice Department for their work on the Epstein list
Glaser went on to roast some of the guests, including Leonardo DiCaprio. She joked: ‘What a career you've had, countless iconic performances, you've worked with every great director, you've won three Golden Globes, an Oscar and the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.’
On Wicked: For Good she said: ‘Once again, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande gave us two career-defining performances. Two hours into that movie, I was in tears. I was like, "I can't believe there's still 45 minutes left."’
She also joked that Timothée Chalamet playing Marty Supreme was ‘the first actor in history to have to put on muscle for a movie about ping-pong’ and said that: ‘The Rock is nominated tonight, and, luckily for him, the TV show The Paper is not, so he might win.’
Glaser last week announced that she will be brining her stand-up tour The Stunning Show to London's Eventim Apollo on June 5, with tickets on sale on Friday. And to Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre on June 6, which is on sale now.
