Comedian accidentally smashes his own watch on stage

'I lost a day's wages,' says Nathan Cassidy

Here's the moment a comedian accidentally smashes his own watch on stage.

It happened at the Camden Comedy Club in London after  Nathan Cassidy had become embroiled in a conversation with someone in the audience whose job was to make sales calls to conference attendees.

The tedious nature of the business caused another punter to check their watch, causing the comic to tap his with the microphone in mimicry.

'I broke my very expensive watch,' Cassidy told Chortle. 'I mean, not that expensive, but comedian’s wages haven’t gone up in years and this is the last thing I needed.

'This is probably the only job where you can lose an entire day’s wages through something like a parking fine (£170 - never ever park in the Angel Centre N1, that’s another story…) or smashing your own watch to pieces. Both of these have happened to me already in 2024, neither my fault.  OK, maybe this one was my fault.'

Cassidy recently released his 2023 Edinburgh Fringe show Fifty on Amazon, and urged people to rent it saying: 'I need the money more than ever now.'
