...splitting the room with an abortion joke

Anne Edmonds split the room with a joke about abortion at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival gala.

The comic garnered shocked 'oohs' and 'aahs' from the audience of the televised show when she cracked her opening joke.

She went on to joke about irritatingly twee families and creepy men in her routine at the Regent Theatre, which has just been published online.

Her MICF show, No Offence, None Taken, is on at the Victoria Theatre at 7pm (6pm Sundays).
