Hitchcock's Half Hour

Note: This review is from 2000

Review by Steve Bennett

Oh, how I wanted this to be funny.

This double act are likeable, full of energy and effortlessly enjoyable to watch.

But I simply couldn't raise laugh at their exhuberant on-stage antics.

Bundled full of silly puns, wacky animations and stupid visual gags, this show somehow still failed to connect.

And it wasn't just me being curmudgeonly about a dozen punters took the chance offered by the inter-sketch films to make good their escape fairly early into the proceedings.

For some reason, nobody bought into their surreal world of Siamese twin serial killers, moronic pop stars and video game addicts, and all that joie de vivre fell flat.

Never has so much energy been spent for so little effect. It's hard to understand why, but this show just didn't work.
