Curb Your Enthusiasm? I thought it sucked
It might have revitalised his career – as well as his own love of comedy – but Ted Danson has admitted he initially hated Curb Your Enthusiasm.
He said when he and wife Mary Steenburgen watched the pilot of Larry David’s comedy: ‘I thought it sucked. I thought it absolutely sucked.
‘I felt sorry for my new friend, Larry David. So, in trying to be an encouraging kind of thing, I said, "If you ever need us to play ourselves, we’d be happy to."
‘And in that sort of idiocy, I ended up being part of something that changed my life.’
Danson appeared in the very first series of the HBO sitcom, and went on to be in 34 episodes, and he acknowledged: ‘Curb really did change my life because it reinvigorated my desire to be funny.’
The Cheers and Good Place star made his comments on his podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name, while talking to Curb co-star J.B. Smoove.
