Gerard Butler barred from comedian's Edinburgh Fringe show
As one of Hollywood’s leading men, Gerard Butler surely been granted entrance to some of the world’s most exclusive VIP areas.
But a stand-up show in a dank vault at the Edinburgh Fringe? That’s off limits.
The star of films such as Olympus Has Fallen has been denied entry to see Liverpudlian comedian Andy Roach because he was a few minutes late to the Wee Room at Just The Tonic at The Caves.
And we’re not sure which front-of-house worker was bold enough to deny entry to Spartan King Leonidas!
The stand-up did manage to briefly catch up with the A-lister after the show and shared a video of their encounter on Instagram.
A laughing Gerard said: ‘We turned up five minutes late and they wouldn't let us in. I'm not enough of a name to get into the show. We turned up like seven minutes late because the fuckingGoogle Maps took us to the wrong place and they wouldn’t let us in. And I begged.’
In the accompanying caption, the 36-year old comic wrote: ‘I won't make exceptions for @gerardbutler or any Hollywood A-lister! Get your tickets early and arrive at the venue on time.’
Despite being barred from Roach’s Laughing At Conspiracy Theories, Gerard has managed to get into several Fringe comedy shows.
Chortle spotted him in Flo & Joan’s One Man Musical – an unflattering parody show about Andrew Lloyd Webber. The subject would have been close to home given that Gerard played the title role in the 2004 film version of Phantom Of The Opera, a part he landed after auditioning for the theatrical peer himself
Gearard also attended the lasted show from US double act BriTANicK, Dummy.
Thanks for coming to see the BriTANicK show @GerardButler!!
