The one line Malcolm Tucker wasn't allowed to say...

As Armando Iannucci once recalled

comedyA timely story from The Thick Of It comes courtesy of the Popbitch newsletter tonight.

As the first snatched pictures of Steve Coogan playing Jimmy Savile emerge, the gossip sheet recalls a Q&A with his Alan Partridge co-creator, about the time his movie The Death Of Stalin was coming out.

Iannucci was asked about the flamboyant swearing in the political satire and whether there was anything the  writers came up with that was considered too much.

In response, he recalled one like kiboshed by the BBC lawyers: Malcolm Tucker saying: ‘That's inevitable. It's as inevitable as what they'll find in Jimmy Savile's basement after he's dead.’
