Simon Brodkin on the perils of Zoom gigs

comedyThere’s a different intimacy with Zoom gigs compared to a live show – as Simon Brodkin discovered during one performance last year.

The stand-up was performing at a corporate Christmas gig when the gig was interrupted by the sound of someone flushing their toilet.

‘For an online show we always ask a few of the people watching to keep the laptop microphone is switched on so I am not just performing to a silent crowd. But sometimes they forget how much we can hear,’ he told the Daily Star.

‘Normally, the worst I have to deal with is the sound of people chewing on their Nando's, but yeah this one guy accidentally went a bit further. Genius!’

Brodkin – known for his pranks against the likes of Theresa May and Sepp Blatter – was speaking to promote his nationwide stand-up tour Troublemaker.
