Followers swell following his BBC appearance

He may not have wowed the judges on his Strictly Come Dancing debut, but the show doing wonders for Chris Ramsey’s social media following.

The comic added almost 40,000 new Instagram followers after his first appearance on the BBC One show at the weekend, swelling the number from 246,000 to 283,000 – more than 15 per cent.

However, he’s still a long way behind social media star Saffron Barker, who has 1.3million followers.

And Ramsey’s followers do not interacted much with the comic on social media, according to one analysis. 

Just over two per cent of his Insta audience engaged with his content, by commenting or liking it, putting him 11th  out of the 15 celebrity dancers on the show, according to digital marketing companyReboot Online.

Barker again topped the table with more than 10 per cent of her followers engaging with the content.

Ramsey came last-but-one on the Strictly leaderboard on Saturday, scoring  just 13 points from judges for  the cha cha he and professional partner Karen Hauer danced to Juice by Lizzo.
