Ed Easton takes the lead in One Man Musical
Edinburgh Fringe role that George Foreacres made his own
Edward Easton is to take over from SNL UK’s George Fouracres when One Man Musical returns to the Edinburgh Fringe this August.
- Spoiler ahead -
The show, created by musical comedians Flo & Joan (aka Rosie and Nicola Dempsey) offers a satirical take on the life of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
It was a hit at the 2024 Fringe, winning best show at the Chortle Awards and being named best comedy show of the year by The Guardian.
Easton – a member of the Tarot sketch group – has big shoes to fill as Fouracres was singled out for praise in his performance.
The Times called him a ‘sensational comic presence’ explaining: ‘He owns his petulant persona so utterly you can’t always tell where the script ends and rambunctious ad libbing begins.’
And this website said: ‘He hams it up in this loosest of caricatures. He is palpably having fun playing such a larger-than-life figure, commanding the stage, chucking in ad-libs, making up his own bizarre pronunciations, but keeping the show on track.’
Easton played lead character Simon across both series of the Dave sitcom Porters, played series 2 regular Ben in Rose Matafoe’s Starstruck, and has roles in The Horne Section TV show and Ladhood.
One Man Musical returns to Soho Theatre from Wednesday June 17 to Friday July 3 before heading to the Pleasance in Edinburgh.
