In a new Canadian comedy series

Samantha Bee is to star as the Canadian ambassador to Bulgaria in a new Canadian comedy series.

Simply called The Ambassador, the show will star the Toronto-born comedian as a  former actor turned diplomat.

Allana Harkin will play her childhood best friend Andrea Taylor, a sharp, policy-driven diplomat who stands in contrast to Olivia’s ‘instinct, chaotic brilliance and uniquely Canadian workarounds’.

The show was announced by public service broadcaster CBC today.
