Comics sought for annual Dabbers competiion

Entries have opened for this year’s Dabbers Bingo comedy caller contest.

The company is searching for 24 comedians and cabaret performers to compete for the title and a £1,500 cash prize.

It is the sixth time Dabbers, based in the City of London, has run the competition, which this year is free to attend for audiences,.

The winner also gets the chance to perform at a major summer festival and a year's guaranteed work at Dabbers. Heats begin on April 1, with the final on July 17.

The contest will be hosted by musical comedian Katie Pritchard, pictured, and past entrants include comics Viggo Venn, Dan Tiernan and Lorna Rose Treen.

Jonny Unknown, managing director of Dabbers, said the event offered 'a much-needed dose of light relief' given the state of the world. 

Pritchard said she was looking forward to seeing 'brand-new characters from familiar faces'.
