A Boxing Day treat
Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Jordan Brookes is to release his stand-up-musical theatre hybrid show Fontanelle for free on YouTube on Boxing Day.
The show – very loosely based on the comic’s bid to write a musical based around Titanic – premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2024 before transferring to Soho Theatre in London earlier this year.
Brookes said: ‘It started in 2023 as a work-in-progress show with just me on stage and slowly mutated into a (sort-of) musical with a cast, props and songs.
'It’s definitely the most ambitious, gloriously stupid thing I’ve made, and I’m so excited to be releasing this mad beast of a show during the most wholesome time of year.
‘It shouldn’t be surprising that this show made me no money. But I didn’t want to put it behind a paywall so I’m releasing it on YouTube. So if anyone fancies dropping some money in my Ko-fi, that would be great.
‘Also, if anyone wants to buy a mini-bow of a ship that doubles as a Zimmer frame for no reason, or six tiny captain’s hats, or an eight-inch squidgy foam dildo, please get in touch.’
And he joked: ‘Look out for Fontanelle 2: Lost In New York in 2027.’
Fontanelle will be available at midday UK time on December 26 on Jordan Brookes’ YouTube channel.
