...of his 'healing' stand-up show I Love It Here

Simon Amstell has announced a three-week London residency in February.

The comic will be back at the Arches in London Bridge from February 11 with his new stand-up show I Love It Here.

He unveils the show there tonight, described as  ‘funnier, truer and more healing’ than anything he’s done before, for its first week-long run.

Producers say it marks a departure from Amstell’s previous depression-based work, such as the BBC stand-up special Numb, which was inspired by his inability to feel anything.

It is based on a story of him finding peace at a friend’s beach house just outside Los Angeles, where he was in love and ‘released from the need to perform’.

‘But when an invitation arrives from the man who first ignited his teenage desire, that fragile calm is thrown into chaos,’ the show’s description says. ‘What follows is a desperate, hilarious attempt at surrender, during a night of overwhelming stimulation – the raw material for this extraordinary new show.’

Tickets for the February run are available here.
