Romesh Ranganathan heads big Sudan benefit
Fundraiser at Hackney Empire
Romesh Ranganathan is headlining a last-minute benefit to raise money for Unicef’s work in Sudan.
The newly announced gig at the Hackney Empire in East London next Wednesday will also feature Katherine Ryan, Fatiha El-Ghorri, Limahl Germain and Seann Walsh.
All profits will be donated to UNICEF UK's Sudan Emergency Appeal. The conflict in Sudan, now in its third year, has created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, with more than 15 million children urgently in need of support.
Unicef is working to deliver life-saving essentials like safe drinking water, medicine, nutrition, and education, but the needs remain immense.
Philip Goodwin, chief executive of Unicef UK, said: ‘We’re delighted that Romesh and such an incredible line-up of comedians are coming together for this special night.
‘It promises to be a fantastic evening at Hackney Empire, made even more meaningful by shining a light on Sudan, a crisis that rarely makes the headlines, while raising vital funds to help children caught up in the conflict.
‘Every ticket sold will help us deliver food, clean water and medicine to those who need it the most.’
The gig is being produced by Off The Kerb Productions, the agent of all the acts involved. Tickets are available here.
