Elf Lyons wins Sky Arts award

Over fellow nominees Jen Brister and Sarah Keyworth

Elf Lyons has won this year’s Sky Arts award for comedy.

The comic was honoured for her ‘genre-defying’ show Horses, ahead of fellow nominees Jen Brister for her body of work and Sarah Keyworth for My Eyes Are Up Here.

She previously won the ISH Edinburgh Comedy Award and the Comedian's Choice award at last year's Edinburgh Fringe for the same show .

Previously known as The South Bank awards, this year’s accolades were handed out at a ceremony in London’s Roundhouse last night  hosted by Bill Bailey.

Sky executive Phil Edgar-Jones  said: ‘The Sky Arts awards celebrate the very best in our arts and culture – and we believe we need the joy our artists, singers, dancers, musicians, writers and poets bring more than ever.

‘It’s by telling our stories and listening to the stories of others that we can create a more empathetic society.’
