James Corden heads back to America

To star in Broadway revival of Art

James Corden is returning to the US – to star in a Broadway revival of the comedy play Art.

He joins The Watcher star Bobby Cannavale and How I May Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris in the new production of Yasmina Reza’s award-winning work.

The plot revolves around three longtime friends and what happens when one makes an extravagant purchase of a completely white painting, leading to intense arguments over what constitutes art.

Producer Michael Shulman said of the play: ‘Ever since I first saw the original production, it has been etched into my mind as a hysterical and moving portrayal of friendship, compromise, and the power of art to change perspectives.’

Previews to begin at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre on, August 28, with opening night on September 16. It will run until December 21.

The announcement was made today by producers Sand & Snow Entertainment (Michael Shulman), ATG Productions and Gavin Kalin Productions.

Art has been revived several times in the UK with casts including Jack Dee, Paul Ritter, Seann Walsh,  Frank Skinner, Sean Hughes and the League Of Gentlemen trio of Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton and Mark Gatiss,

Corden called time on The Late Late Show, which he hosted for US network CBS, in April 2023, saying he watned to spend more time in the UK.
