Comics to discuss ‘what can you laugh about?'

At the Leeds International Festival of Ideas

Comics Geoff NorcottRosie Jones and Jamali Maddix are to discuss ‘what can you laugh about?’ at this year’s Leeds International Festival of Ideas.

The trio will be joined by stylist and writer Ayishat Akanbi to debate the limits of comedy at an event on September 24.

Maddix will host the session, which is billed as follows: ‘In a society where cancel culture is widespread and language censored, where exactly should we draw the line between comedic expression and just downright offensive?’

Aisling Bea will also be appearing at the festival in an ‘in conversation with…’ event on September 23, in which she is described as the ‘contemporary voice of screenwriting'.

The full programme for the festival, which runs from September 22 to 25, is available here.
