Award for comedy's casting director

The casting director of Channel 4 comedy We Are Lady Parts has won the leading industry award for her work.

Aisha Bywaters took the accolade for Best Casting in a TV Comedy Series at the Casting Directors’ Guild ceremony, hosted by Jennifer Saunders.

She triumphed over fellow nominees Catherine Willis, for Alma’s Not Normal, Sarah Crowe for series three of Motherland and Theo Park  for season two of Ted Lasso.

In a statement, guild co-chairs Jessica Ronane and Kate Ringsell said: ‘Despite another challenging year, our industry has determinedly stepped up and we are thrilled by the scope of work we are celebrating by such a brilliant, wide range of casting directors.’
