...as comedians perform for their staff meetings

The 700-plus employees of Octopus Energy are getting comedy performances as part of their weekly staff meeting.

Eshaan Akbar, pictured, Scott Bennett, Olga Koch and Adele Cliff are among the comics contributing to the virtual meetings.

It comes under a deal between the power supplier and the  Leicester Comedy Festival, which will also be receiving a financial  donation towards staging next year’s event, scheduled for  February 3 to 21.

Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, marketing director at Octopus Energy, comments: ‘The last few months have been tough for all of us, but the arts are among the professions that were hit the hardest. We are delighted to be able to support comedians and performers while giving our colleagues a good laugh on a Friday - it’s a perfect win-win situation.’
