Adam Kay adds a second Hammersmith Apollo show

Two gigs in one day for This Is Going To Hurt author

Adam Kay is to play two gigs at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo in the same day.

The medic-turned-comedian has today added a matinee performance at 3pm on November  18, after almost selling out the 7.30pm evening show.

In the show, Kay will be reading extracts from his bestseller This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor.

The titles has been number one in the UK book charts for five months, selling more 700,000 copies. It has been translated into 25 languages, and BBC Two have recently announced the book will be turned into a major new comedy drama series.

Kay is also offering half-price tickets to all NHS staff.

He said: ‘The NHS isn’t a collection of buildings – it’s the million and a half wonderful people who work there – and they need a laugh more than ever.

‘Non-medics are welcome too: in fact, it’ll be the safest place in London to get ill.’

Support will be coming from Mark Watson, who played a key role in Kay’s success – as two years ago, Watson brought his publisher to see Kay reading from his diaries in Edinburgh.
