Chris Addison's movie gets a US release date

Remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Chris Addison’s first movie as a director has been given a US release date… but no title.

Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson star in the scam artist comedy, based on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Studio MGM says the film will be released in the States on August 10 next year.

The movie was originally called Nasty Women, although that is set to be changed. The stars play two con artists, one high-class, one low, who engage in a competition to swindle a naive young tech millionaire out of his fortune.

Although this is former stand-up Addison’s big-screen directorial debut he has overseen episodes of The Thick Of It and Veep, winning a Directors Guild of America award for the Election Night episode of the latter.

According to Hollywood website Deadline, also released on August 10 are deep-sea thriller The Meg; the live-action Barbie movie which Amy Schumer pulled out of; and the remake of Scarface.

Frank Oz’s 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was itself a remake of Ralph Levy’s 1964 movie Bedtime Story, starring Marlon Brando, David Niven, and Shirley Jones.
