New podcast from Adam Buxton
'I had a lot of silliness that needed to get out'
Adam Buxton is making a new podcast for Audible.
In Successpod, the comedian attempts to make himself relevant in the age of influencers, looksmaxxing and self-optimisation – while being fairly confident he will fail.
Based around his mid-life anxieties, his guests across the six episodes will be Romesh Ranganathan, Louis Theroux, Sam Campbell, Jessica Knappett, Kathy Burke and Guz Khan.
Buxton said the emphasis would be on comedy, in contrast to his long-running self-titled podcast which is billed as sometimes being ‘more serious with funny bits’.
He said: ‘It’s been a lot of fun to do a purely comedic show/podcast again. It felt like I had a lot of silliness that needed to get out, though that could also be a middle-aged gut issue.
‘Successpod has enabled me to do all my favourite things in one package - record sketches with stupid voices, laugh with friends, make ridiculous music and talk to my dog-friend Rosie. I hope it cheers up around 100 people, but not more. It’s not good to get too successful…’
The series was produced by Mindhouse Studios and will be available on Audible from June 11.
Publicists could not say whether you'll need to have a paid Audible subscription to listen, saying only that ‘'membership may be required'. Pressed further, they added, unhelpfully: ‘The wording "membership may be required" is standard platform language included in the press materials. For specific details on access and subscription requirements, we'd recommend checking Audible directly closer to launch.’
