BBC orders comedy short from Smoggie Queens star Elijah Young

Sarnies set in a Newcastle sandwich shop

Smoggie Queens star Elijah Young is making a BBC comedy short set in a sandwich shop on Newcastle's Bigg Market.

The actor will film the ten-minute episode of Sarnies – which he also wrote – next month.

According to the BBC, the show will follow aspiring manager Sharon ‘as she does her best to keep staff and new recruit Christopher out of messy situations’.

The short is being produced by Gateshead-based Candle & Bell with Bank Of Dave and Tinsel Town director Chris Foggin as executive producer.

Young – who plays Stewart in Smoggie Queens – yesterday helped unveil a new mural featuring the drag-queen comedy in Middlesbrough.
