New date for fans evacuated over bomb scare

Peter Kay has rescheduled his Birmingham show that was evacuated because of a bomb scare on Friday.

He will be back at the Utilita Arena with his  Better Late Than Never show on Saturday July 25.

All tickets will remain valid for the new date, although fans who were at Friday’s show but who can’t make the new date will be entitled to a refund.

Confirming the new date, the venue said: ‘The safety of the audience, artist, and staff is always the highest priority, and we apologise sincerely for the inconvenience caused by the precautionary evacuation by venue management on the advice of West Midlands Police.

Omar Majed, 19, from the city, has been charged with communicating false information and will appear at Birmingham Crown Court on June 1. He has not yet indicated how he will plead. A preliminary magistrates court hearing this week heard that he allegedly ‘barged’ his way into the arena without a ticket.

Kay was removed from the stage about 45 minutes into his set and almost 13,000 fans were evacuated.

West Midlands Police later said "nothing suspicious was found" during searches of the venue.
