Comedians Lucy Beaumont, Fatiha El-Ghorri and Richard Herring will be taking part in a new celebrity edition of Channel 4’s Great Pottery Throw Down.

They will be joined by Paul Merson, actor Layton Williams and actress and presenter Denise Van Outen.

While the ‘civilian’ series involves weekly eliminations, all six celebrity contestants will remain on the show for its five-week run. They will, however, be awarded points from judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller in each challenge as they compete to take the series crown.

Host Liza Tarbuck said: ‘I knew I’d enjoy Keith and Rich’s company and I did. People flourish around emotionally intelligent people, and the boys' encouragement and kindness really promoted a growth in our newbie potters that was a pleasure to witness. I absolutely loved being there.’

Channel 4  commissioning editor Deborah Dunnett agreed, saying: ‘The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down is a wonderfully heart-warming series.

‘For the first time we are able to discover pottery through the eyes of real beginners and follow their creative progression through to a deeply personal finale with some show-stopping results. And of course it’s absolutely thrilling to welcome Liza to the pottery family.’

As the news of the show was announced, Beaumont posted on Instagram: ‘Sometimes it felt like the Priory, sometimes it felt like a pottery show but I had such a wonderful time with this cast and crew.’

No broadcast date has yet been announced for The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down, which is made by Love Productions.
