New Blap from Welsh writer Carys Thomas

Welsh writer Carys Thomas has made a Channel 4 Blap about a rebel forced to join a deeply uncool girl guide group.

The short pilot of Cardiff-set Misguided will feature comics Mike Bubbins  and Elis James as well as Miranda’s Sarah Hadland and a host of Welsh talent.

In the guide group, central character Rhiannon reluctantly befriends straight-A student Kate, hormone-addled Libby, and the permanently unimpressed Nisha – but longs to be reunited with her old mates.

Thomas, who won the Bafta Rocliffe new writing award in 2024, said: ‘Going from entering Bafta Rocliffe to seeing these characters brought to life has been a truly wild experience.

‘It’s been a joy to channel all the chaos and hilarity of my teenage years in Cardiff into Misguided, and to work with incredible up-an- coming Welsh talent to bring it to thescreen.’

Misguided drops on Channel4.com and YouTube on May 14 and has been made by Objective Fiction, whose other credits include Toast of London.

Charlie Lewis, the company’s head of comedy said: ‘Misguided felt special from the start – painfully relatable, chaotic and very funny. We’ve loved bringing Carys’s world to life, we are hugely grateful to Channel 4 for backing it, and hope this is just the beginning for our misfit gang.’

Channel 4's Blaps have previously launched comedy series including GameFace, We Are Lady Parts and Stath Lets Flats.
