US comic suffers serious injuries in crash

American comedian Eugene Mirman has been hospitalised with serious injuries following a serious car crash.

The stand-up – who voices Gene Belcher on Bob’s Burgers and was in the cast of Flight Of The Conchords –  was pulled from his 2026 Lucid Gravity after the crash at a toll plaza in New Hampshire on Tuesday.

The high-performance SUV caught fire with 51-year-old Mirman trapped inside.

A veteran state trooper assigned to New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte’s security detail pulled him from the car through a window. Governor Ayotte, along with other witnesses, helped the trooper, whose name has been withheld

New Hampshire state police colonel Mark Hall said: ‘Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did. Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.’

Mirman, who was alone in the vehicle at the time, was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation.
