Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade join Sonic The Hedgehog 4
Comics cast in $1billion franchise
Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade have joined the Sonic The Hedgehog universe.
The comics – who starred together in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and The IT Crowd – will both appear in the fourth movie in the franchise, which is due out in March next year.
They will join returning stars such as Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Jim Carrey as Robotnik, Idris Elba as Knuckles, Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails and Keanu Reeves as Shadow.
The films, which mix live action and animation, have so far taken more than $1billion at the box office.
Berry and Ayoade’s involvement was revealed by Hollywood trade press, which also announced that Ben Kingsley and Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman were joining the cast. Kristen Bell was recently announced as love interest Amy Rose.
It comes after Berry acted as announcer at the Oscars last weekend.
A further Sonic film is expected in December 2028.
Paramount Pictures today released this teaser trailer, too:
