When is the Ghosts movie out?
Release date set as first image released
The Ghosts movie The Possession of Button House s to be released in time for Halloween, distributor Lionsgate has announced.
Releasing the first image from the production, above, the company announced that it will be hitting cinemas nationwide in the UK and Ireland on Friday October 23 this year.
It is currently being filmed at West Horsley Place – the country manor that stands in for Button House – and at locations across the South East of England.
Marie-Claire Benson of Lionsgate said: ‘We’re excited to give families something they can enjoy together this Halloween – and what better way to celebrate than seeing everyone’s favourite ghosts on the big screen, to capture the spirit of the season.’
The film reunites the cast of the BBC original: Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond – all of whom who wrote it – as well as Lolly Adefope, Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe.
Alison Owen and Debra Hayward, producers for Monumental Television, said in a statment: ‘After its enormous success as a television series, we are thrilled that audiences will get to experience Ghosts on the big screen. It will be an unmissable event."
Ghosts ran for five series on BBC One, with the final episode watched by 7.2 million viewers. The US remake is currently in its fifth season.
The format has now been licensed in six countries, most recently in Czechia, joining local versions also produced in France, Germany, Australia and Greece.
