Norwich gets a new comedy festival

The latest city to get a Comedy Garden event

A new outdoor comedy festival is coming to Norwich this summer, with some of the biggest names in British stand-up.

The Norwich Comedy Garden will run from July 1 to July 5 at Chapelfield Gardens, bringing together established headliners and emerging talent for five nights of live comedy.

The line-up includes Jack Dee, Dylan Moran, Sara Pascoe, Tom Allen, Ross Noble, Ed Gamble and Michelle de Swarte, alongside newer names such as Jin Hao Li, Evaldos Karosas, Bella Hull and Jen Nolan.

The festival is part of the Comedy Garden series, which was launched in Bristol in 2011 by siblings Will Briggs and Cass Randolph.

Norwich will be the sixth city in the series, with events in Cambridge, Greenwich, St Albans and Brighton also planned.

The garden has previously been used for the  Laugh In The Park Comedy Festival, but that moved to Earlham Park in 2023.

Randolph said: ’We’re delighted to be adding Norwich to our family of festivals,’ she said. ‘It’s an excellent city with a keen eye for culture, so we know our Comedy Garden event will do very well here.’

Briggs added that the programme had been put together to make a strong first impression. ‘We’ve lined up a programme packed with the very best names in comedy to ensure our debut festival launches with a bang,’ he said. ‘It’s shaping up to be one of the highlights of the summer.’

Also appearing are John Kearns, Helen Bauer, Ivo Graham, Ed Byrne, Sarah Keyworth, Catherine Bohart, Jamali Maddix, Fin Taylor, Chloe Petts and Kyla Cobbler, among others.

As well as the comedy, the event will offer food stalls and bars. Listings and tickets are here.
