Sky has appointed former Top Gear showrunner Lisa Clark to oversee the UK remake of Saturday Night Live.
The broadcaster has appointed her as commissioning executive to ‘help shape the series’ when it launches in the coming weeks.
A former head of comedy at LWT, Clark’s producer credits include podcast My Dad Wrote A Porno, BBC Two’s Shooting Stars, League Of Gentlemen Live Again and Vic & Bob’s Big Night Out.
She said: ‘I have always loved the thrill of live television and there is no greater stage for live comedy than SNL.’
As previously announced James Longman, Liz Clare and Daran Jonno Johnson will lead the show’s production, direction and writing teams.
Clark’s boss Phil Edgar-Jones, executive director of unscripted originals at Sky, said: ‘The SNL UK team are made up of the very best producers, writers, and department heads in the industry, so I am thrilled to have landed a true TV legend in Lisa Clark as Sky's commissioning executive.
‘Lisa has an incredible track record working collaboratively with some of the finest comedy talent in the business and will be a huge asset to the production.’
Saturday Night Live UK will follow the same live format as the original, featuring a new generation of comedy players in the core cast, alongside guest hosts and musical performances.
More details on the show’s cast, hosts, musical guests and premiere date are expected to be announced soon.
