Russell Brand due back in court

To face the two new charges filed last month

Russell Brand is to appear in court later today on the new charges of rape and sexual offences that were raised against him last month.

The 50-year old former comedian has already denied two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault said to have taken place between 1999 and 2005.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this afternoon to face the new allegations, which date from 2009.

A trial is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court later this year in relation to the five original charges.

Brand, of Oxfordshire, was charged following an investigation by Channel 4 and The Times newspapers.

He is now an internet broadcaster who courts the American right – having appeared  at a campaign event for Robert F. Kennedy Jr, attended the Republican National Convention and spoken at the AmericaFest 2025 run by Turning Point USA, the group set up by murdered Charlie Kirk.

His YouTube channel, which has 6.7million followers, has been accused of promoting Covid denial and other conspiracy theories.

Earlier this month, Chortle revealed how Brand made £4million in the year multiple women made claims against him.
