Trailer released for Becoming Victoria Wood
Plus some rare archive photos
U&Gold has released the trailer for Becoming Victoria Wood, a 90-minute tribute to the late comedian, as well as a couple of rare archive photographs.
The film will be screened in cinemas from January 9 before airing on TV in February.
It features the likes of Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Maxine Peake, Michael Ball, Joan Armatrading and Jasper Carrott honouring the comedian.
Jessica Barden – from The End of the F***ing World and Dune: Prophecy – will be reading extracts from Wood’s archive.
It will include never-before-seen material and previously unheard audio recording to explore the ‘insecurity, anger and self-doubt’ that plagued the comedian.

The film draws on some of the same material used in last year’s Radio 4 documentary, Loose Chippings, including the intimate audio diaries she recorded during the making of Dinnerladies and a tape of her first recorded performance in 1973. This will be the first time that performance has been featured on television.
Next year marks the tenth anniversary of Wood’s death - on April 20, 2016 – at the age of 62.
Becoming Victoria Wood is being made by Rogan Productions with Phil McIntyre TV, directed by Catherine Abbott and produced by Heather McCorriston.
A list of cinemas where it is being screened is available here.
