Super Hans writes his 'Moreish' memoir
New book from actor Matt King
Matt King is writing a memoir in the guise of his Peep Show character Super Hans.
Moreish – the title coming from his druggy alter-ego’s feelings toward crack cocaine – will be published by HarperCollins imprint Mudlark on August 27 next year.
King posted on Instagram: ‘Secret’s out. Been writing like a punk-rock Wilbur Smith. Book's coming out summer 2026. Pre-order now or miss the apocalypse. Available in hardback, ebook and audiobook next year. Tag your mates. Merry Spliffmas!’
The Channel 4 sitcom starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb was originally written by Jesse Armstrong – who went on to create Succession – and Sam Bain.
King previously co-wrote the 2010 BBC sitcom Whites, which starred Alan Davies as a chef
The publishers’ blurb for Moreish reads: ‘From Croydon to the former Eastern Bloc, Super Hans lays it all out – bad trips, deep thoughts and absolute bangers. You know the name. You know the carnage.
‘Now, for the first time ever, Super Hans tells his own story – no filter, no agenda, just 100 per cent pure, distilled Hans. From his early days brewing home-fermented insanity to fronting the greatest band that never was, to performing at actual Glastonbury, this book is the hilarious, trippy and occasionally baffling life story of Super Hans, in his own words, even though he can't quite remember all the details.
‘Join Super Hans as he drops acid at funerals, meets "The One", in the form of a sexy Berlin nightclub dancer, attempts to run a moped rental business in Macedonia, reconnects with the twins, gets banned from several countries and eventually goes on the run across Europe. All while somehow keeping it together as the world’s greatest superstar DJ.
‘Equal parts riotous comedy, bizarre philosophy guide, unreliable travelogue and strangely heartfelt memoir, this is a must-read for all fans of chaos, big beats and massive truth bombs.’
The memoir – first reported by the British Comedy Guide – comes after King reunited with Mitchell and Olivia Colman, Isy Suttie and Sophie Winkleman for a Peep Show Bake Off special that will air on Christmas Day on Channel 4.
Moreish: My Mad Autobiography is available from Amazon priced £16.99 in hardback – or from uk.bookshop.org, below, which supports independent bookstores.
