Andy Dick: 'I don’t mind doing a little crack every now and then'

US comic's confession after he's found passed out in the street

American comedian Andy Dick has admitted smoking crack after being found collapsed and unresponsive on Hollywood Boulevard this week.

Passers-by tried to revive the 59-year-old, with one of them telling how the star’s face and hands turned blue before paramedics arrived.

Shocking footage of the incident was obtained by gossip website TMZ, with the comic slumped on a concrete step in the middle of the day, unresponsive to calls to wake up.

A bystander is heard shouting for someone to use Narcan – a life-saving medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses – which apparently  was administered.

The comic was not  taken to hospital following the incident reports say, and later gave an interview to TMZ, flanked by two friends who were with him at the time.

He said he was ‘100 per cent fine’ then he changed his answer to ‘110 per cent’.

Explaining the incident, Dick said he sat down next to a ‘guy, about my age, I felt for him… he was depressed and he was on the sidewalk and I went, "I’ll sit with you".

‘And then he whipped out – sorry, but crack – and I’m like, "you know what, I might need a little bit of that".

‘I wanted to see what he was doing. And also I don’t mind doing a little crack every now and then.’

The friends said they were making a documentary about Dick to mark his 60th birthday.

Dick also told the website he has no intention of going to rehab. He previously said he has undergone 20 programmes.

He has a long history of drug addiction, allegations of sexual misconduct, and arrests.

In 2023, he was  arrested for public intoxication and during a routine check, authorities determined he was a sex offender whose registration had lapsed. That stems from a 2022 conviction for groping an Uber driver’s genitals four years earlier.
