Maisie Adam to present C4's Women's FA Cup coverage

Maisie Adam is to present Channel 4’s coverage of the Women’s FA Cup with former footballer Jill Scott.

Coverage begins with the third round proper on Saturday with live coverage Wolverhampton Wanderers v Nottingham Forest.

Adam said: ‘I am buzzing to be teaming up with a legend of the women’s game… We’re going to have such a brilliant time and I can’t wait to get started.’

Channel 4 has terrestrial rights to the tournament for the next three seasons and will broadcast one game per round from the third round onwards.

Coverage of each round will open with Jill And Maisie’s Road To Wembley, filmed in the host town or city the day before each match. The pair will meet supporters, club characters and local personalities.

Then, live at the match, the presenters will take viewers behind the scenes with players, coaches and pundits. 

Pete Andrews, Channel 4’s head of sport, said the pair were ‘fantastic signings’ and promised the programmes will bring ‘something genuinely fresh’ to football coverage.  

Scott – who was made an MBE in 2020 for services to women's football – said: ‘I’m so excited to be presenting this year’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup alongside Maisie and bringing such a brilliant competition to Channel 4 viewers. I loved playing in the FA Cup and it will be fantastic to be a part of it again, this time from the touchline.’

Adam – who has just been crowed champion of the 20th series of  Taskmaster –  is an ardent football fan presented  who has presented Radio 4 programmes about the Women’s World Cup and Women's Euros.– as well as joining the Lionesses for a League Of Their Own special for Sky alongside Katherine Ryan. She plays for a local team in Brighton and is a Leeds United fan.

Lucy Cutler executive producer at FilmNova, which will be producing the Women’s FA Cup coverage, said: ‘This is a hugely exciting moment for the women’s game, and our ambition is to capture its passion, personality and unpredictability in a way that feels modern, joyful and rooted in the communities that make it special.’

And fellow executive producer Alison Lombardi added: ‘As well as bringing to life a new and fresh concept and introducing a fantastic new presenting double act in Maisie and Jill, we have also broken the mould off-screen. 

‘All our top line production roles are filled by female industry professionals, from Lucy and myself as execs to Gemma Knight as match director and Lucy Barber as match producer.’

Saturday’s build-up to Wolverhampton Wanderers v Nottingham Forest begins at 11.45am on Channel 4, with kick-off at 12.15pm
